## Safety guidelines

Make sure you have read and follow the safety guidelines [available here](/help/safety/safety-guidelines).

## Brakes

Squeeze each brake lever individually. They should feel firm and not touch the handlebars. If a lever feels soft or doesn't brake properly, do not ride — contact Torks.

## Wheel tightness

Some models have **quick-release wheels**. If your bike has them, check that the quick-release levers on both the front and rear wheels are properly closed and locked. A loose wheel can come off while riding — this is a critical safety point.

## Tyres

Visually check that the tyres are properly inflated and free of cuts, cracks, or embedded objects. An under-inflated tyre increases the risk of a puncture and reduces battery range.

## Lights

Turn the bike on and check that both the **front light** and **rear light** are working. In Switzerland, lights are required at all times.

## Battery

Glance at the charge level shown on the display. Make sure you have enough range for your ride. It's recommended to keep the battery as charged as possible — the fuller it is, the more powerful the pedal assist.

## Lock and battery

Before setting off, make sure the **battery is securely locked** into the frame and that the **lock** is not attached to the wheel or frame.
