# How to properly adjust your helmet?

> Comfort, ventilation, fit, and position: the 5 criteria for a properly adjusted bike helmet.

Your helmet should:

1. Be **comfortable** and **lightweight**
2. Provide **good ventilation**
3. **Fit snugly** — it should not move when you shake your head
4. **Cover your forehead** — the front edge should sit about two fingers above your eyebrows
5. Have properly tightened straps — you should be able to fit one finger between the strap and your chin, no more
